A trio of metro Phoenix restaurants will appear on The Cooking Channel's hit TV show Man V. Food on Monday. The show rolled into metro Phoenix for an episode that originally aired March 17. It will grace television screens for a second time on May 18.

On Man V. Food, host Casey Webb travels around the country taking on competition-style eating challenges, facing down table-sized sandwiches, mountains of spaghetti and buckets full of wings.

Restaurants set the challenge and Webb tries to chow down before a timer runs out. At some of the restaurants, Webb earns his spot among other customers who have managed to beat the challenge. At others there is just simply too much food.

In the episode airing Monday, Webb "crunches through a sweet Latin staple and takes on a Stone Age feast topped with a smoked turkey leg. Then he attempts to devour a four-pound deli platter in Chompie's Day at the Deli Challenge," according to a news release.

Here's where the show filmed in Phoenix

In episode 25 in the show's fourth season, Man V. Food comes to Scottsdale.

Webb travels to Dulce Churro Cafe, a coffee and dessert shop known for its creative treats featuring the popular cinnamon dusted fried dough. The cafe twists the sweets into cones and loops covered in chocolate and sprinkles.

Webb and his team also head to Phoenix's Arcadia neighborhood to eat at Hash Kitchen, where he chows down on the restaurant's signature hearty skillet hash browns with an extra challenge, there was an entire turkey leg on top.

Man V. Food host Casey Webb films an episode at the Scottsdale location of Chompie's. For the Scottsdale episode, Webb visited three restaurants in metro Phoenix.

Finally, just to add even more meat, Webb visits Chompie's in Scottsdale where co-owner Neal Borenstein delivers a day's worth of food to Webb's table. The Chompie's Day at the Deli Challenge included six pastrami and swiss sliders on latkes, a bowl of matzo ball soup, a bowl of coleslaw and six mini black and white cookies. The order clockes in at four pounds of food.

When the episode originally aired on March 17, Arizona restaurants' dining rooms were closed to help stop the spread of the new coronavirus. Starting May 11, restaurants began reopening for dine-in service as permitted by Governor Doug Ducey.

Hash Kitchen and Chompie's locations are reopen for dine-in service and Dulce Churro Cafe is open for takeout and delivery desserts currently.

Webb's other stops in Arizona

Earlier in season four, Webb stopped in Tucson to accept a few culinary challenges in southern Arizona as well.

In episode 13, "Casey Webb's eating expedition brings him to Tucson, Arizona, where he faces off with a cheese and chile tamale pie piled high with pulled pork, avocado hollandaise and more," according to the Cooking Channel website. "Then he takes on a bacon-wrapped hot dog taco with all the fixings before he finally tackles the "rib-diculous" challenge of two full racks of ribs."

His Tucson stops included Boca Tacos y Tequila, Baja Cafe and Pinnacle Peak steakhouse and saloon.

And this season is not the first time Man V. Food has filmed in Arizona, the show has previously made stops at MacAlpine's Diner and Soda Fountain along with Paradise Valley Burger Co. and the Game Seven Grill close to Chase Field among others.
